We are looking for experienced intensive care nurses to join us in setting up our cardiac surgical Ben Weir High Dependency Unit.
This new area will comprise of 4 beds exclusively available for cardiac surgical patients who require level 2 care, including non-invasive ventilation, arterial and central venous monitoring, temporary epicardial pacing, vasoactive medications, and chest drain management.
You will contribute to the delivery of the cardiac surgical ERAS programme and support the ward in managing cardiac surgical patients who acutely deteriorate and require enhanced care.
You will work within a small team led by a senior nurse to deliver high-quality care to patients, with opportunities to develop your leadership skills through mentorship, education, and training, as well as through the development of protocols.
There will be opportunities for you to develop your skills, and we are willing to create bespoke educational packages depending on your personal wishes and needs.
You will support and deputise for the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and resources.
You will co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the ward/department and ensure excellent communication is maintained.
You will ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre and post-registration students, and provide specialist knowledge if working in a clinical area where a post-registration course is essential.
