Job overview
To provide corporate professional leadership and support to the Global Majority NMAHP workforce and to develop clinical practice in line with the Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery & AHP Strategy.
To coordinate the development of professional practice within the Global Majority NMAHP workforce across the Trust to ensure they have the skills and education to provide safe and effective patient-centered care.
In line with the #Stay & Thrive agenda, to utilize their lived experience and collaborate with Trust leaders, managers, and the Practice Education Team to welcome internationally educated registered practitioners, foster a sense of belonging, support career development, and enhance professional growth of our Global Majority NMAHP workforce.
Main duties of the job
* Facilitate the development of patient-centered and innovative practice among the Global Majority NMAHP workforce across the Trust.
* Lead specific professional practice development projects as identified by the Associate Chief Nurse for Workforce & Education.
* Work closely with divisions and corporate teams to implement initiatives that improve staff and patient experience and quality of care.
* Ensure objectives outlined in the nursing, midwifery, and AHP strategy are achieved within the Professional Education Team.
* Develop, maintain, and implement competency-based frameworks for the Global Majority NMAHP workforce.
* Support nurses when concerns about practice or performance arise, following Trust policies and procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Adhere to Codes of Professional Conduct relevant to professional registration.
* Collaborate with the learning & development department to meet the professional development needs of the Global Majority NMAHP workforce through mandatory and other training.
* Ensure systems meet NMC standards for practice learning.
* Serve as an expert resource to the workforce, Learning Environment Managers, Ward Leaders, and senior staff.
* Represent the Associate Chief Nurse for Workforce & Education at professional meetings in their absence.
* Contribute to business planning for service and workforce development.
* Identify and address shared learning opportunities from incidents and complaints across divisions and services.
* Maintain effective communication with key staff and teams across the Trust.
* Ensure the Professional Education Team’s website is current and accessible to staff.
* Develop policies and procedures to support professional practice development as needed.
* Support the implementation of the Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP strategy.
* Undertake risk assessments and develop mitigation actions related to professional practice issues.
* Contribute to the Recruitment and Retention Pipeline for Nursing.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree-level professional qualification with current registration.
* Masters level knowledge of Education in Practice or willingness to undertake such studies.
* Practice Assessor training/preparation completed.
* Formal coaching qualification.
* Evidence of leadership training.
Experience
* Broad clinical experience post-qualification.
* Extensive experience in teaching, supervising, and assessing healthcare students in practice.
* Experience working across professional and organizational boundaries.
* Practical experience facilitating change.
* Staff management and supervision experience.
* Experience developing and implementing systems and procedures.
* Knowledge of preceptorship processes.
Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective interpersonal skills.
* Ability to present to large groups.
* Strong organizational and administrative skills, with excellent time management.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
