What you will be doing;
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Strategic Projects Team in a brand-new role as a PMO Manager. As our PMO Manager you'll be responsible for ensuring adherence to the Strategic Projects portfolio governance, ensuring that all projects adhere to an agreed best practice and that standard approaches are in place for tracking costs, quality and delivery timescales, ultimately enabling the successful delivery of a broad range of LNER programmes and projects.
Working closely with the Practice Lead, you will implement and maintain a consistent approach across the organisation, whilst also recommending best practice to other areas within the business. You will also work with Programme Managers, Project Managers and Business Change Specialists to ensure that adequate project controls are in place and quality artefacts are being produced, applying the agreed governance approach and maintaining delivery standards at all times.
You'll also be involved in;
* Providing support to the wider Strategic Projects Team, and wider business where required, ensuring all data is up to date, and reporting is delivered in a timely manner.
* Establishing frameworks and standards for Programme and Project Management, leading quality checks and audits of project controls with Project Managers.
* Ensuring quality Project level reporting is taking place and assist the Programme Manager in reporting through various governance boards, including Executive meetings.
* Managing the Board report secretariat, including managing the completion and reporting of actions.
* Managing and compiling portfolio level financial and KPI information for various reporting, such as board packs and period reporting.
* Identifying gaps or overlaps in the project or programme resource schedule and suggests appropriate actions to address these.
* Understanding the company project roadmap and pipeline requirements to report on and validate the project & programme roadmap (progress, resource, budget, risks & issues) providing a central view to the Strategic Projects team.
* Supporting other members of the team with administrative duties.
What you'llneed:
We're looking for someone who has demonstratable and evidenced experience of managing projects and implementing change. You'll also have;
* APM or other relevant experience/qualifications.
* Experience of managing all tracking and governance related to large portfolios of work.
* Ability to manage and lead a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
* Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong influencing and communication skills.
* Strong collaborative skills, team player.
* Ability to challenge and influence decision making.
* A good understanding of financial analysis, cost tracking and preparation of Benefits Cases.
