Senior R&D Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior R&D Engineer to join our team in Neath, on a full-time, permanent basis!

What you will be doing:
1. Designing and developing state-of-the-art products and technologies.
2. Rapid development of analog and digital electronics, communication protocols, writing device firmware, setting up, and configuring Single-Board-Computer (SBC) units for edge-computing and wireless communication methods.
3. Providing technical leadership for the Hardware and Firmware sub-team in the Vortex product range.
4. New PCB design, testing, debugging, and prototyping for electronics hardware.
5. Firmware design and programming for embedded devices.
6. Writing Design and Test Reports.
7. Generating and curating release notes for hardware design and firmware versions.
8. Monitoring performance of the hardware and firmware releases.
9. Collaborating with other R&D departments including Software, Product Design, QA, Procurement, and Production.
What are looking for:
1. Tech-savvy self-driven individual.
2. M.Sc./M.Eng./PhD in Electronics / Electrical / Computer Sciences.
3. 5+ years of industrial/project experience in working with Embedded Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, and commercial product development.
4. A clear understanding of computer communication networks, IP v4/v6, CoAP, UDP, TCP and relevant network diagnostics.
5. Familiarity with Computer Networks, Communication Protocols, Network Configuration with Windows and Linux platforms, and Low-power RF Networks.
6. A comprehensive understanding of microcontroller peripherals, including communication standards like SPI, UART, I2C, etc., and knowledge of utilizing SFRs, Timers, Counters, Interrupts, ADCs, etc.
