To participate fully in the Care Home team and to provide a professional care service to Service Users, working alongside other Care Assistants and under the direction of the nurse-in charge. The responsibilities linked to this position can be summarised as follows: Ensuring the highest standards of person centred, caring, safe, responsive and effective care is delivered to all Service Users at all times. Working under the direction of the nurse-in-charge to provide medical care support in areas such as routine observations, body mapping, weight management etc. Co-operating with and applying operational and environmental controls to ensure that care is delivered in a safe, consistent and collaborative manner. Maintaining and respecting the confidentiality of Service Users, their relatives and all staff within the home as well as visiting professionals. Adhering to and promoting Safeguarding, Health and Safety and other protective measures at all times; acting on and reporting any concerns identified or raised in a prompt, professional and appropriate manner Work as a team member to support the provision of a service which maximises the quality of life for our Service Users each and every day. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: To actively participate in the provision of the Service User care philosophy in the care home in order to ensure the highest possible level of care at all times. A professional, caring, efficient and prompt service is provided to Service Users at all times. Full assistance is provided to the Service Users in order that they achieve as full and rewarding a life as possible. Full assistance is provided to the Service Users, as required, in accomplishing activities of daily living such as assisting at mealtimes, dressing, bathing and providing personal care. Essential care is provided to individuals who are not capable of managing themselves. Full assistance is provided in the serving of meals and when assistance is given to those individuals who require it. All equipment provided in the Care Home is used properly and in accordance with operating instructions. To actively participate as a team member of the Care Home. Effective assistance is provided to the multi-disciplinary team, as required. A high level of team spirit is entered into in order to maintain good team morale. All possible assistance is given in order to ensure that adequate cover for holidays, days off, sickness etc is provided by working additional shifts, with reasonable notice given. Full awareness and compliance of care/home/company policies and procedures is achieved and when co-operation is given with training in any changes and updates to such policies and procedures. To ensure that all relevant health & safety and Safeguarding procedures are observed at all times. All Safeguarding, health & safety, infection control, fire, environmental and other legal requirements, are properly observed without exception. All actual and likely Safeguarding or health & safety hazards, accidents and incidents involving Service Users, staff or visitors are properly and promptly reported to the person in charge. To participate in the formulation and undertaking of monthly infection control audit and subsequent action plans. To ensure escalation of any infection control issue to relevant supervisor/manager. All aspects of food handling, preparation and presentation to Service Users are properly monitored in order to ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations. The Care Assistant will be expected to participate in establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with Service Users, relatives and with the local community. The Care Assistant will be normally be assigned to a designated care home, however travel to and possible cover over neighbouring care homes may be required from time to time. Any misconduct or indeed gross misconduct e.g. Abuse, falsification of timesheets, theft (the list is not exhaustive) may result in the termination of your employment.
