Voted by brokers as the market leading provider of Engineering Inspection Services for the 14th consecutive year in a row this is an exciting opportunity to join our Underwriting team in the role of Senior Engineering Inspections Underwriter.

The New Business Focal Point will be responsible for driving growth and shaping our underwriting capabilities for new business within the engineering sector. The role requires the successful candidate to inspire a small team of New Business underwriters, building a collaborative trading culture, working closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams to deliver innovative and competitive inspection solutions.
Hybrid working - the successful candidate will be required to spend up to 3 days in one of our offices or onsite with brokers.
Role Description
* Act as a Senior Authority holder focussed on winning business of a large and complex nature.
* Manage a small team of NB Underwriters, leading by example and build a winning trading culture.
* Build and develop successful Broker relationships.
* Be visible in the local market, you will thrive on face-to-face contact with brokers and end customers.
* Provide excellent service to our customers and develop business relationships with key clients.
* Achieve agreed financial and operational performance targets and be responsible for setting teams day to day priorities.
* Collaborate with Distribution teams to shape and develop cross sell opportunities and identify new routes to market or opportunities.
* Coach and develop underwriters by producing and delivering local and national training sessions on technical and trading topics.
* Support National Operations Manager with Transformation Projects – Owning and assisting with various projects ongoing and demonstrating resilience to manage competing priorities effectively.
Salary Information & Location
Pay: Circa £50,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
Location: Manchester, Birmingham or London.
About You
* Outstanding technical underwriting skills in Engineering Inspection Services (ideally already at a senior level).
* A leader who inspires trust and creates a “can do” culture.
* Accountable – a track record of owning and delivering on decisions, seeing them through.
* Excellent trading skills and a confident negotiator. Proven experience in handling large and / or complex cases.
* Confident and engaging communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence others.
* A good team player. Supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
* Digitally curious – willing and able to embrace new and emerging technology.
* Capable of leveraging data and analytics to inform decisions and drive the best commercial outcome.
