Closing Date: 26th Jan 2025

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, playing a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape for wildlife and for people.
You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays, and evenings, and be on call. Due to the rural location, it’s likely you will need your own transport to get here.
What it's like:
This beautiful Tudor mansion is situated high above the River Tamar, with Dartmoor National Park and many unspoilt beaches nearby. The Ranger team works with many volunteers, external partners, and community groups to deliver excellent conservation work and create opportunities for the public to engage with our work. 12,000 trees, including more than 1,000 fruit and nut trees, are being planted this winter, and we will continue to plant a further 11,800 next year while seeking further opportunities. You will be at the heart of this activity, helping to maintain, celebrate, and share the work completed and be part of the exciting planting focused on the first phase of re-creating a 16th-century deer park. You'll report to the Area Ranger and work closely with the Visitor Experience team at Cotehele.
What you'll be doing:
You’ll help protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings, and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
You’ll ensure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
Who we're looking for:
1. Practically experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapes.
2. Happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing and why it matters.
3. Hard-working and willing to learn.
4. Able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines.
5. Experienced in managing land, access, and conservation, and working outdoors.
6. Able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates.
7. Driver with a full UK driving licence.
