About the Role
Are you a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post-qualification experience, a passion for the outdoors, and an eye for detail?
As Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of daily financial operations, from accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations, to VAT returns, invoicing, and journal entries in Xero. Reporting to our Finance Director, you’ll manage a Financial Assistant, ensure robust month-end reporting, and collaborate with the wider team—plus our fantastic local hosts—to drive continuous improvement in our finance function.
This role goes far beyond standard bookkeeping. You’ll develop processes, lead year-end reporting, and serve as the primary contact for external accounting requirements. Your analytical mindset, technical expertise, and problem-solving abilities will shape key decisions and have a tangible impact on our business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Financial Operations
* Oversee accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and weekly invoicing/payment processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Prepare timely, accurate month-end reports for our board, senior management, and investors. Provide insights to guide strategic decision-making.
* Lead year-end reporting, liaise with external accountants for statutory accounts, and maintain best practices in financial compliance and governance.
* Identify opportunities to streamline workflows. Implement and optimize financial tools and systems—especially Xero—to drive efficiency and autonomy.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, foster strong relationships with local hosts, and serve as the go-to person for all finance-related queries.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post-qualification experience (PQE)
* Deep technical accounting knowledge and outstanding reviewing skills
* Proficient in Excel and accounting software (ideally Xero)
* Highly analytical, with exceptional problem-solving abilities
* Proactive self-starter who manages workload independently
* Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
* Clear, confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English
* Able to adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment and meet tight deadlines
* Thrives when working remotely and collaborating with distributed teams
* Passionate about adventure travel
* Background in practice (including audit) or relevant industry experience
* Travel industry experience
* Expertise in financial modelling and cash flow projections
