The Role
To oversee the successful delivery of Supported Internships across London & SE. Ensure that the Supported Internship and In Work mentoring team is effectively managed and able to achieve high performance against KPIs and quality of services delivered to young people. Support the Supported Internship London Management team. Deliver the role of Supported Internship tutor or job coach where required and support the wider development of the supported internships across the UK including remote delivery.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Having day to day management responsibility for the performance of minimum of two Supported Internship sites and supported employment (InWork mentoring) contracts across London, reporting to Supported Internship Managers.
2. Managing teams of Job Coaches, Tutors, In Work mentors and other professional staff to include PPP reviews, Annual Reviews, Supervision, and observation of practice.
3. Ensure staff are aware of service standards, expectations and timescales, and establishing a culture of responsibility and accountability; building trust, good morale and teamwork.
4. Specialising in managing supported internship LA contracts and Access to Work provision (AtW) or other agreed contracts and being flexible enough to move between contracts, fill in for tutors and job coaches and to pick up contracts as and when required.
5. Support the development of new Supported internships and supported employment opportunities and the relationships with funders (local authorities, ESFA, AtW) that this entails including the virtual SI project.
6. Support Supported Internship Managers to draft the delivery and quality assurance plans and taking responsibility for achieving the outcomes identified for contract areas.
7. Ensuring contractual KPI’s are achieved.
8. Prepare and present monitoring reports, reviews, continuity plans as required.
9. Deputising for the Supported Internship Managers at Supported Internship and supported employment meetings where required.
10. Support Supported Internship managers to develop new Supported employment/internship partnerships and business opportunities, and to better support young people in line with the 3-year plan (2 new SIs per year).
11. Ensuring the quality of Supported Internship delivery is high.
12. Working with other organisations or agencies to develop new services, improve practice and agree service level agreements.
Skills & Experience
1. Experience of co-designing, delivering and facilitating group training sessions within health and social care settings.
2. Experience of managing same or similar programmes.
3. Experience, understanding and empathy with the lives of young people.
4. Proven track record of running successful payment by results programmes.
5. Experience of monitoring budgets.
6. Organises work targets and manage conflicting pressures and deadlines.
7. Ability to use ICT (minimum requirement is an ability to use Word and PowerPoint and able to follow instructions for the inputting and retrieval of information from a database).
8. Takes responsibility for planning work and delivering team targets.
9. Demonstrate an understanding of the barriers facing people from vulnerable groups and a commitment to actively promoting and helping young people to progress.
10. Strong planning, project management and organisational skills.
11. Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners to meet stretching participant recruitment and create high quality customer journeys.
12. Ability to work under pressure and meet contract KPIs.
13. Communicates well with individuals and groups using a variety of media.
14. Effective manager who brings the best out in those they are responsible for.
15. Ability to engage with young people and work collaboratively with them to design effective coaching and mentoring support.
16. Proven ability to work with key stakeholders to ensure high performing, smooth running projects that complement and add value to existing provision.
17. Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners to create effective coaching and role model provision.
