Job summary: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Building Surveyor/ Senior Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Building Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in our organisation, contributing to the success of various projects. Interested in becoming a Registered Building Inspector: NHBC welcomes individuals interested in becoming or are at the early stages of their applications to become a Registered Building Inspector (all classes), and we will provide the necessary training, funding and support by our dedicated professional team for the Building Safety Regulator framework. What you’ll be doing You will be an integral part of our team, assessing Building Control and warranty applications for residential and mixed-use developments. Your role involves ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, service level agreements, and operational procedures while meeting customer needs. Working remotely, you will visit sites within your area and occasionally travel to our offices, including the head office in Milton Keynes. You will assess applications, collaborate with developers and builders, and ensure proposals meet regulations and our standards. Additionally, you will coordinate inspections, issue Final Certificates, manage site approvals, and resolve issues with Initial Notices and Certification. You will also support Building Inspectors and Inspection Managers by inspecting high-risk elements and reviewing project progress. What we’re looking for You will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of Building Regulations, building technology, and technical training. Experienced with structural defects and related claims, engineering, NHBC Standards, and site inspection would also be a benefit. In-depth relevant building/construction experience with substantial knowledge of the housing and commercial sectors. An understanding of building pathology and experienced in the field of Building Control. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information to internal/external audiences. Be of a proactive nature, a self-motivated approach, and a willingness to develop your role. A full Driving licence is required for this role. You will already have or working towards, a construction-related qualifications such as City and Guilds, HNC, HND, or NVQ (or equivalent). Professional chartered membership or working toward i.e. MCIOB, CABE, or similar.
