We are looking for a full-time Assistant Shop Manager to work in our new shop in the heart of the city. Our small but effective team has built a resilient and dynamic bike business, and we are ready to expand our reach.
Assistant Shop Manager Job Description
Our reputation is for high-quality servicing of bikes and fair pricing. You will work across both sites and get a 360-degree view of our operations. Responsibilities include:
* Help drive business growth through upselling and cross-selling.
* Understand and meet weekly labor targets.
* Manage daily repair workload and delegate to a team of mechanics/bike builders.
* Conduct constant reviews on tooling needs and condition of existing tools.
* Train and develop mechanics and bike builders to meet company expectations.
* Motivate and engage team and customers daily.
* Manage workshop calendar and monitor lead times for efficiency.
* Diagnose and identify problems for accurate service and repair.
* Provide guidance on labor pricing structure to colleagues and customers.
* Form quotes for repairs within customer budgetary constraints.
* Carry out all types of servicing at a professional level.
* Keep the workshop stocked with service items and maintain high presentation standards.
* Knowledge of POS systems is beneficial.
* Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
* Work safely and adhere to all company health and safety policies.
* Handle boxed bikes and manage cardboard waste and recycling.
* Make all customers feel welcome and address issues professionally.

Skills/Experience Required
* Deep real-world professional bike mechanic experience or Cytech 2 & 3/equivalent qualifications.
* 2+ years experience working as a mechanic in a high-paced environment.
* Significant workshop experience.
* Understanding of bike industry stock and ability to use IT systems.
* Good health and a balanced lifestyle.
* Ability to harness and run with business opportunities.
