We need a Technician in mechanical engineering manufacture to work in our Faculty of Science Mechanical workshop (based in the Chemistry Building at the University of Bristol). You will provide workshop relevant technical support to researchers and students including troubleshooting problems, and advising on manufacture, and ensuring a helpful and professional mechanical engineering service is provided.
This position is well-suited for individuals with experience as a Tool-Maker, Machinists, Engineers or a Mechanical Technician.
What will you be doing?
* Manufacture, adapt, repair, construct and commission a wide range of research and teaching equipment (including the laser cutter and 3D printers).
* Provide good quality documentation to support your work and staff who rely on it.
* Operate, service, maintain, and calibrate workshop equipment.
* Diagnose and rectify problems.
* Train and support others to undertake activities and tasks in your areas of expertise.

* Have experience of mechanical engineering design and manufacture as well as experience of laser cutting and 3D printing.
* Be able to develop strong working relationships with customers (research staff and students) to enable sensible and achievable solutions that meet research and teaching needs.
