Electrical Support Engineer ESE It is an exciting time to join our engineering team here at Voith Turbo in Croydon, with a requirement to recruit a new Electrical Support Engineer. The Electrical Support Engineer reports into our new Head of Engineering and manages electrical tasks, testing protocols and issues in conjunction with the Senior Mechanical Engineer. The role confirms to, owns, develops and manages the VTGB job packs for all electrically based job packs., it also owns, manages all VTGB electrically based concessions and electrically based engineering changes (ECs), together with owning the creation, review, development, certification and management of electrically biased BoMs, you will be responsible for the management of all electrically biased data, manuals, drawings, information etc. The postholder will determine, design, select and design reverse engineer electrical components, systems, and test equipment. Your responsibilities will include carrying out electrically based investigations, analysis, research, and assessments to support NCR's, customer complaints, warranty claims, fault diagnosis, casualties, overhaul activities, creation of CO's, method statements, manuals, work instructions, RAMS. You will conduct condition assessments and failure analyses and produce reports for internal use (VTGB and VT Germany) and externally for customer purposes (joint investigations, warranty claims. You will also act as a special process coordinator for wiring and will be responsible for validating the relevant work instructions, personnel competencies, control methods and documented information complies with the applicable standard by completing an annual process audit at locations completing safety critical work. As an experienced engineer with (as a minimum) an HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) a degree in an electrically biased engineering discipline is preferred, in a electrical/ electronic / electrically biased engineering discipline, you will have as a minimum of 4 years professional engineering experience, with a good balance of general design engineering, reverse engineering, rail experience is preferred but other sectors maybe considered. A solid working knowledge and grasp of electrical fundamentals, principles and their application to products, fault diagnosis analyses and design is a requirement of the role.A knowledge of electrical assets and systems from other sectors including marine, oil and gas, industrial gearboxes/ motors/pumps/ valves, sensors, instrumentation, condition monitoring and testing is desirable. Experience of CAD packages such as Siemens NX and TeamCenter is advantageous. Knowledge of rail products, electrical testing systems, fault diagnosis and root cause analysis, specifically for couplers, final drives, motor gear units, cooler groups, transmissions, electrical heads, contact boxes, uncoupling switches, jumper cables, sensors, gauges and motors would be preferable., together with a knowledge of engineering standards and regulations pertaining to rail operations such as RSSB/RISAS/RISQS and TFL/LUL.
