On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer for a 6 Month (Inside IR35) contract based in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, or Blackpool, working 2 days per week.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK's biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability, and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will help us drive our priorities to:
1. Help people to move into work and support those already in work to progress, with the aim of increasing overall workforce participation.
2. Help people to plan and save for later life, while providing a safety net for those who need it now.
3. Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society.
4. Improve the experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.

Description:
An experienced and motivated Senior DevOps Engineer is required to build, test, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure and applications using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code. The role will include day-to-day support and monitoring of systems, including investigation, troubleshooting, resolution of technical issues, and support for development teams to meet their scheduled delivery targets/sprints.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
1. Experience in a DevOps/Application Support or Senior Development/Systems Integrations Role with strong automation and configuration skills.
2. Successful applicants should enjoy helping projects go live in a successful and stress-free manner, drawing on a wide range of skills covering software development, technical architecture, IT service management, and infrastructure operation.
3. AWS cloud-based platforms.
4. Microservices and containers (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS).
5. Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible/Puppet/Packer).
6. Programming/Scripting Languages (Python/Bash/Powershell).
7. Building and implementing CI/CD Pipelines (Gitlab CI/Jenkins).
8. Monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana/Graylog/ELK).
9. Linux Administration Skills and use of version control systems like Git.
10. Good understanding of Java/Maven/Node.js web and batch applications.
11. Good understanding of relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL like MongoDB.
