Assertive Outreach West have a great opportunity become available for a full-time permanent position. We are seeking a registered Nursing Associate Mental Health Practitioner to fulfil this role.
The post is an exciting opportunity to broaden skills within the Community expanding current knowledge and competence working with clients who have a severe and enduring mental illness. We as a team encourage social inclusion and working with the client to live the best life that they can.
You will work as part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary team made up of Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurse therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Support Time Recovery Workers, and Occupational Therapists.
The Assertive Outreach Weymouth team covers pan Dorset County, with the exception of Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch.
You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to assess and monitor patients in their own homes. Assertive Outreach is a Monday to Friday service. This post is for 37.5hrs per week, working Monday to Friday, 09:00hrs to 17:00hrs.
Main duties of the job
The primary role responsibility would be to support the registered staff, and to hold a small low-risk caseload of patients with whom you'll provide person-centred targeted support to assist in aiding their holistic recovery. To act as a role model for junior staff and MH support workers. There are opportunities for you to advance your own clinical assessment skills whilst risk assessment will remain at the forefront of everything you do. Alongside this, there will be completion of regular clinics i.e. depot, Olanzapine, and physical health. You should have recent experience of working in a mental health environment and will need to be able to apply the philosophies of engagement and recovery in your work with service users.
It goes without saying that you are reliable, committed, and motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise. In addition to this, we are also happy to support you in advancing your own skill set using additional learning opportunities such as conversion RMN, NMP, ACP, and psychological therapies.

Person Specification
Knowledge and skills
* NMC Registered
* A clear understanding of the function of a rehabilitation service and a demonstrable knowledge of therapeutic interventions used within the rehabilitation service
* Experience of Adult Mental Health specialist working
* The ability to provide supervision to junior staff
* Understanding of specialist programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients.
Information Technology / Resources Essential
* Ability to use IT systems to undertake Care Coordinator duties
* Experience of using electronic patient/service user record systems
* Willingness to attend training with local systems
Job Specific
