Overview
The Duke of York's Royal Military School seeks a passionate French and Spanish teacher to join our successful MFL Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students with dynamic, engaging, and ambitious teaching practices.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience teaching French at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to teach Spanish at these levels being highly desirable. You will be dedicated to contributing to the ongoing development of teaching and learning, building on the strong foundations already in place. A commitment to delivering a high-quality, aspirational, and engaging curriculum to all students is essential.
We welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be required to play an active role in boarding school life, in return for the DOYRMS allowance of £6,337. This will include: the mentoring of a tutor group; clubs and activities during the day; boarding duties in the evenings and at weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Set high standards in planning, teaching, and assessing KS3 and KS4 French (and possibly Spanish).
* Have strong knowledge of MFL curriculums and effective pedagogy.
* Design flexible, creative lessons aligned with objectives and learner needs, incorporating recent developments.
* Utilise a range of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies to support personalised learning.
* Assess students accurately and provide meaningful feedback for improvement.
* Be accountable for student progress, addressing underperformance with supportive interventions.
* Communicate student achievements and well-being effectively with parents.
* Ensure learning continuity during staff or student absences.
* Stay updated on curriculum changes and recommend new courses, materials, staffing, and CPD needs to the Head of Faculty.
