The Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide leadership to all staff and manage available resources for the provision of care to our patients.
They will provide specialist clinical advice regarding the service and treatment provided. They will be up to date with all the latest protocols and NICE guidelines involving Rheumatological diseases.
The Lead Nurse will lead by example and empower staff in their personal and professional development. They will encourage the nurses to undertake a greater range of clinical skills to improve patient care and enhance accessibility to the team.
They will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively and professionally. They will be able to work autonomously, independently manage the nurses' off duties, annual leave, and sickness reviews.
Main duties of the job
1. Hold regular nurse meetings to discuss any new changes in drugs or new procedures within the rheumatology department, helping to maintain a good working environment in which patients can receive a high standard of care. Attend weekly Biologic meetings and monthly Business meetings and participate when needed.
2. Provide regular audits to improve the patient journey. Be adaptable and forward-thinking, as things change very quickly in Rheumatology. Attend face-to-face clinics as well as hold educational meetings.
