Job overview
We are seeking motivated band 6 pharmacists to join our team of residents at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This rotational post provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist to develop and use their medicines optimisation knowledge and skills to enhance the patient experience and improve flow across the Trust. Rotations are available in haematology and oncology; paediatrics; surgery and neurology; general, acute and specialist medicine; cardiology and cardiac surgery; technical services; medicines information and formulary; patient services; Queen Mary's Hospital.
The Pharmacy service is highly regarded in the Trust and has over 200 staff members. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal development and further postgraduate education. We support the development of independent pharmacist prescribers as a new model of care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to:
* Be a role model and actively promote safe, evidence-based prescribing
* Support and promote medicines optimisation services in your designated specialty
* Support the 24-hour pharmacy service that is provided at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
* Engage with the wider healthcare team to ensure patients are discharged in a timely and safe manner
* Provide education and training for undergraduate healthcare professionals
* Be actively involved in audit and research
* Deliver metrics that demonstrate the benefit of this role in providing pharmaceutical services to patients
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and reliable with good interpersonal skills. You must possess a Master's degree in pharmacy.

Skills
* Good interpersonal skills.

* Familiarity with JAC computer systems and electronic prescribing systems.
* Experience of management and/or leadership.
Experience
* Experience of working in a pharmacy.
* Previous experience of hospital pharmacy, e.g. Foundation training year 6-12 months.
* Experience in a busy dispensary providing a wide range of services.
Qualifications and Training
* Masters Degree (M.Pharm)
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Evidence of CPD
* Certificate in General Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
Knowledge
* Good basic pharmaceutical knowledge.
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical reference material.
* Knowledge of common medications, doses, side effects and interactions.
* Knowledge of hospital pharmacy processes.
