North Yorkshire Council’s Adoption is looking for Social Workers to join their Harrogate and Scarborough Teams. Please specify in your application which area you would prefer to work in, if you have a preference.
We very much promote flexible working with the option to work remotely from home at times. Whilst your base will be identified within a specific location, you may at times, be required to work from other bases across the county.
North Yorkshire Council has a national reputation for excellence, and we are looking for a Social Worker with a variety of experience and skills to join our Adoption Team. We also welcome those who are looking to relocate. North Yorkshire County Council’s adoption service is part of One Adoption North and Humber, a high performing regional adoption agency.
One Adoption North and Humber is committed to providing timely, high-quality services to meet the needs of children who need permanence through adoption. You will be part of a highly acclaimed, supportive service that operates a comprehensive programme of induction. The Adoption Service ensures that all staff receive ongoing support from managers, and everyone has the opportunity to progress within their career.
We value staff development and offer a wide range of training opportunities, including trauma-informed practice models and approaches that enhance the service delivery to our children and adoptive families.
Working in the adoption team is an exciting, challenging, unique and rewarding job. It is a role that gives social workers the opportunity to operate within a range of contexts; undertaking assessments of prospective adopters, providing adoption support services to children and families, providing preparation training to prospective adoptive parents, and being part of a professional team to support the matching and placing of children.
As a service, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive team culture where social workers feel that they have a forum to share their views about the organisation and environment in which they work. We clearly demonstrate that the voice of the child and family shapes the service we provide, and this is evidenced throughout our practice.
If you are an enthusiastic, hardworking, and committed team player that is interested in making a positive difference to the lives of children in adoption and to adoptive families, we would love to hear from you.
We welcome interested applicants to contact Assistant Team Manager Rachael Hunter at Rachael.Hunter@northyorks.gov.uk or Assistant Team Manager Coleen Scott at coleen.scott@northyorks.gov.uk for an informal conversation.
