Occupational Therapy provides key therapeutic assessments and interventions to patients in order to promote independence and facilitate optimum function for individuals working with patients, families and carers and the multi-disciplinary team to achieve agreed outcomes for patients. To work with the Clinical Specialist OT to ensure the delivery of Occupational Therapy in the MSK Elective/Trauma Orthopaedic Team in an efficient and effective way. To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge in a specific clinical setting. To develop basic managerial and supervisory skills. To carry a clinical caseload and work to Service priorities. To work with patients, carers and their families in a sensitive and professional manner. To liaise with other professionals for the benefit of the patient. To work with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties. To liaise with colleagues/ and work across site if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service. You will have the opportunity and support to develop your supervisory and leadership skills, by supporting and supervising other staff members within the team. You will be expected to provide practice placements for Occupational Therapy students and assist in new starter inductions. There is also structured in-service training in place within the team, which you will be required to participate in.
