Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with mental health challenges? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to students experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them to engage in learning and build confidence.
2. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.
3. Offer emotional and behavioral support, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
4. Foster strong relationships with students, providing a listening ear and a consistent, reassuring presence.
5. Support students in small group settings or on a one-to-one basis, as required.
About You:
1. Previous experience working with children or adults with mental health needs, special educational needs (SEN), or in a pastoral/support role is highly desirable. We find those with a background in mental health support or youth work thrive in this environment.
2. A patient, calm, and understanding nature, with the ability to build trust with students.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different situations.
5. Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable but not essential.
