Job summary An exicitng opportunity has arisen for a full time Paediatric Medical Support Secretary for our Paediatric Sleep Study Service, The post holder will support in the delivery of a comprehensice administration service for the Paediatric Inpatient Sleep Studies, Respiratory and General Paediatric. For more information, please see attached Job Description or contact Gemma Street-Price 01782 671522 Main duties of the job The post holder is required to support in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. This will involve waiting list management for the Paediatric Sleep Service, along with Respiratory and General Paediatrics, in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers and typing correspondence as appropriate. The post holder will log referrals, make/amend appointments and deal with all queries that come in to the team. The post holder will be responsible for sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing information in a timely manner. Application of the national rules and guidance is critical in relation to treating patients in a timely manner and chronologically, whether by clinical priority or in terms of length of wait. As part of the administrative support structure, the post-holder is responsible for adhering to the Trust's Access Policy and Standard Operating Procedures. The post holder will also be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff and carers and this will require tact and diplomacy. Some of the patients and carers that we have contact with are distressed or anxious and it is expected that the post holder will handle telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement to assess each situation and to deal with it accordingly.
