Mon-Thursday 7am-4pm / Fri 7am - 3:30pm - 1 x 30 min break (very occasional Saturday required)
We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Engineer / Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be electrically qualified and will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fault-finding and troubleshooting electrical systems.
2. Wiring and installing control panels, sensors, and alarms.
3. Maintaining and repairing compressors and associated equipment.
4. Working with 3-phase electrical systems and electrical panels.
5. Carrying out routine maintenance and responding to emergency breakdowns.
6. Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, complying with safety and regulatory standards.
7. Supporting the continuous improvement of equipment and systems.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
1. 17th Edition Electrical Qualification (or equivalent).
2. Proven experience in electrical fault finding, wiring control panels, and working with 3-phase boards.
3. Experience with a wide range of equipment including compressors, sensors, alarms, and other industrial electrical systems.
4. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Mechanical competencies required:
1. Metal fabrication.
2. Arc and gas welding.
3. Machine shop skills.
4. Electrical competencies are advantageous.
Additional Information:
1. Factory based where they make precast concrete.
2. Maintaining and repairing batching plant, conveyors, HVAC systems (overhead crane if experienced).
3. Some fabricating and welding.
4. Site has old machinery so maintenance and repairs are frequent.
5. Preferably 4/5 years experience working in a similar environment - concrete, building products, heavy industry etc.
6. Will accept 2-3 years experience but will need to discuss salary - High salary available for more experience.
Desirable Skills:
1. Previous experience in a similar maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
2. Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
3. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with other departments as needed.
