Ready for a new challenge?
Are you looking for work that makes a difference? Do you want to work with people who learn and grow together?
If so, Opencast could be the place for you. We’re a growing tech consultancy that creates user-centred solutions with purpose for our clients in government and business.
The role
You’ll identify and help solve our clients’ service problems. You’ll investigate, define and design the end-to-end, front stage and back stage service journey. You’ll do this by considering both the problem and solution space, and balancing user needs, business needs and technical considerations.
If you tend to take on more of a leadership role in projects, you may be better suited to our senior consultant service designer role.

To succeed in this role you need experience of working as a Service Designer across a range of complex projects.
In your CV and the interview, please show how you have:
1. analysed and synthesised complex information into actionable insights, needs and recommendations
2. conveyed complex information using storytelling techniques
3. designed artefacts to evidence existing and new service systems and experiences
4. designed prototypes to test new service concepts
5. designed and facilitated workshops and co-design sessions
6. helped clients see the value of the design process
7. clearly and diplomatically articulated tensions between technical, business and user needs.
In addition to service design skills, there are essential core skills you’ll need to work effectively as a consultant.
In the interview, please show how you have:
1. built trust and developed strong working relationships with stakeholders
2. respectfully and effectively challenged decisions or solutions you don’t agree with
3. planned your own tasks, in order to achieve the objectives of your project.
In the interview we’ll ask you to present a piece of work which demonstrates this experience. We’ll also ask you questions based around these topics.
Desirable experience
There are some areas of experience that are not essential, but which are still relevant to this role. If you don’t have this experience please do still apply, as we can coach you in these areas when you join us:
1. designing to UK government service standards
2. the GDS assessment process
3. working in agile delivery teams
If you have experience in these areas, please show it on your CV and we can talk about it at the interview.
