Court Usher - Newcastle Crown Court
Location: The Law Courts, Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 3LA
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week)
Pay: £12.21 per hour (paid weekly)
Contract: Immediate start - temporary until 31/12/2025, with the possibility of extension
Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check
About the Role
Brook Street is currently recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organisation within the Legal Sector. We are seeking a reliable and professional Court Usher to support the operations at Newcastle Crown Court.
As a Court Usher, you will play a key role in ensuring that court proceedings run smoothly and efficiently. This position offers a valuable opportunity to work in a high-profile, fast-paced environment within the justice system.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting court clerks and accurately preparing court log reports
Escorting and supervising vulnerable adults and children attending hearings
Taking initiative to complete post-hearing tasks without direct instruction
Liaising with legal advisors, judiciary, and members of the public
Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate records
Performing general administrative duties as required
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Strong IT and data entry skills
Emotional resilience and the ability to handle sensitive or distressing information
Confidence in communication and managing challenging situations
Effective prioritisation and task planning skills
