Collections & House Manager - Enniskillen Summary INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE We're seeking a Collections & House Manager to take a leading role in caring for, researching and innovatively interpreting both the places and the collections.at Castle Coole & Florence Court, in Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Your role will be pivotal in delivering an innovative approach to the stories we tell and how we tell them, ensuring that we're always providing the best possible visitor experience and delivering a consistently high standard of collection management and care across both properties. What it's like to work here County Fermanagh is a rural community bordering the Republic of Ireland in the West of Northern Ireland, approximately 2 hours from Belfast and Dublin. Both properties, though very different in style, are set in wonderful landscapes. Castle Coole is the finest neo classical house in Ireland, with its exquisite architecture and collection, located on the edge of Enniskillen, the county primary town. Florence Court, located 8 miles from Enniskillen and close to the border with the Republic of Ireland, is the Trust's most westerly property, set against Benaughlin and Cuilcagh mountains. You'll lead a team of staff and volunteers looking after the houses in our care and will take on other responsibilities, such as that of Duty Manager. What you'll be doing We're continually improving our collections care, deepening audience engagement with our collections and interiors, and diversifying the appeal of our houses and collections through the high quality and innovative research, presentation and interpretation we deliver. As part of the Portfolio Leadership team, you'll help to develop the vision for the properties we care for, working with our consultancy teams to ensure that we're in line with National Trust principles. You’ll be working at both Castle Coole and Florence Court each week, so will need to be able to travel between them with ease (the ability to drive is strongly recommended). You’ll provide leadership to the collections and house teams across both sites, developing a lively and engaging house experience, delivering high quality presentation, interpretation and collections care. You’ll be responsible for all elements of the visitor experience programme where it relates to the cultural assets within your properties. The portfolio boasts a strong network of visitor experience colleagues, including the Visitor Operations & Experiences Manager, and you'll work alongside them to help create and deliver an innovative and fresh programme plan for the portfolio. Who we're looking for We'd love to hear from you if you can demonstrate: Experience managing historic collections and houses, with solid understanding of collections care and preventive conservation Proficiency in commissioning remedial conservation for a wide range of objects Excellent project management skills, with an eye for detail and precision in planning complex projects both short- and long-term The ability to motivate and develop a team of staff and volunteers Dedication to engagement and showcasing the stories behind our collection and conservation work for a range of different audiences Experience in the management of relevant compliance, health and safety and emergency procedures Strong business planning and organisational skills, including budget control The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
