Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Domestic Department at West Cumberland Hospital.
The Domestic department provides a 24/7 service within West Cumberland Hospital, undertaking a wide range of cleaning duties including infection prevention cleans (terminal, deep cleans).
Candidates should be flexible, reliable, and trustworthy. Experience is preferred but training will be given.
Main duties of the job
The team will work in all clinical and non-clinical areas throughout WCH:
1. Carry out damp dusting of furniture and fittings and at high, medium and low levels.
2. Mop floor areas and maintain floors using electrical equipment when necessary.
3. Check electrical equipment is in good condition and currently PAT tested.
4. Clean toilets, baths, showers, and washbasins.
5. Empty all bins and dispose of waste appropriately, ensuring waste management regulations are followed.
6. Thoroughly clean equipment after use.
7. Assist with ward or departmental duties as appropriate.
8. Guard against the potential risk associated with needlestick injuries, especially in toilet areas.
9. Wear uniform and protective clothing provided, as instructed.
10. Collect food and linen stores as required.
11. Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
12. Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations.
13. Carry out all duties with due regard for health and safety, and report any accidents, faults, or hazards to the supervisor or nominated safety officer for the area concerned.
14. Attend monthly domestic meetings as requested by the domestic supervisors.

Qualifications
* NVQ 1 in cleaning & support services or equivalent.
* BICSc certification or equivalent.
* NVQ 2 in cleaning & support services or equivalent.
Experience
* Work in a hospital environment.
* Work in a domestic role.
Knowledge
* Use of household cleaning equipment.
Skills and aptitudes
* Able to work alone and in a team.
* Ability to use own initiative appropriately.
* Able to follow health, safety and hygiene procedures.
* Able to supervise staff.
