We have an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Manager to join our Technology team on fixed term contract for 24 months.
This role will be responsible for the management of the operational performance of the Cumberland’s Cloud infrastructure while also helping to develop our Hybrid Cloud offerings. As the leader of the Cloud Platform team a key focus will be taking ownership of existing Azure Cloud platform offerings and management, ensuring that our Cloud infrastructure evolves to meet business and technology needs, and delivers business value.
You will oversee the delivery of Azure-based Cloud services, their lifecycle, and performance. Working with Cloud Architecture and our on-premises Infrastructure teams, you will support the transition of legacy services to the Cloud and champion the adoption of and migration to cloud services.
The Role
Cloud Platform Team Delivery (working in conjunction with the Delivery Lead):
* Ensuring the Cloud Platform Team operate effectively.
* Service Events are monitored and if required responded to.
* Incidents are resolved quickly and in-line with impact matrix.
* Proactive problem management is undertaken and resolved where required.
* Service requests are quickly responded to.
* Change & Release activity is undertaken in-line with Society Policy.
* Cloud Engineering Standards are role-modelled.
* Supporting/Inputting into/driving the continued development of the team.
* Liaises with analysts and architects to understand / define the tolerances, objectives, technical acceptance criteria and scope of required solutions and identifies the systems and infrastructure impacted by the solution designed.
* Supports the solution build activity, working to clarify technical, business, and operational requirements and to resolve issues and risks that emerge.
* Supports the solution handover activity, ensuring the appropriate technical, operational, and business architectures and models now reflect the implemented solution.
Cloud Operations, Financial & Performance Management:
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of Cloud infrastructure, ensuring availability, security, resilience and performance across the Cloud environment estate.
* Oversee all service management activity including Availability, Security, Performance, Capacity, Continuity, Risk.
* Develop and maintain operational best practices, continuously improving cloud infrastructure performance and reliability.
* Including budget setting, forecasting and cost monitoring (OpEx, CapEx & SalEx)
Cloud Product Ownership & Strategy:
* Champion and advocate for the safe usage of Cloud technologies across the organisation.
* Product Management including Product Vision, Strategy & Roadmap.
* Take full ownership of the company's Cloud product offerings, driving the development and delivery of Cloud services that align with business goals.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure Cloud infrastructure meets these needs.
* Continuously evaluate and improve cloud products and services, ensuring they remain cutting-edge, scalable, and aligned with market trends.
* Define product roadmaps, timelines, and key milestones for cloud services, ensuring a clear vision and continuous delivery.
* Work closely with on-premise infrastructure teams to assess current systems and plan seamless migrations to the cloud.
* Support the transition of services from on-premise to cloud environments, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption to business operations.
* Build strong working relationships with on-premise teams to align on infrastructure strategies and best practices.
Ways of working:
* Establish and promote a culture of collaboration with IT Service Delivery teams.
* Assist with the creation of shared technology capabilities to support CBS technology services.
* Supporting and championing a DevOps culture/ways of working.
* Increase levels of Automation to reduce TOIL/manual effort.
* Promote modern cloud engineering practices such as the use of Infrastructure as code.
* Forge close working relationships with supporting functions such as Information Security and Architecture.
Governance & Risk Management:
* Lead & operate risk management activities in alignment with the CBS Group operational risk framework and CBS Cloud Control matrix to ensure that risks are operated within risk appetite.
* Ensures that documents/artefacts are reviewed/updated as defined. (At least annual review).
* Own and iterate the Cloud risks and controls register, including having oversight of the creation of new risk controls and the testing of existing controls.
* Work with Procurement and Supplier Management in managing Suppliers/Vendors/3rd parties in relation to the CBS Azure Cloud Platform.
* Ensures all Cloud deliverables and support documents meet quality standards and parameters.
Team Leadership & Line Management:
* Provide line-management and coaching of Platform Engineers, Cloud Operations Engineers including professional development, pastoral and brighter performance management (objective setting, appraisals etc).
* Support the development of CBS colleagues in the use/adoption of modern technologies & practices.
* Ensure sufficient staffing and skills are in-place/being developed to ensure the CBS Azure Cloud Platform can operate at its maximum potential.
About you
* Knowledge of Azure Services and Architecture.
* Azure Cloud Platform & Infrastructure experience including landing zones, subscription models, shared services, and connectivity/networking.
* Understanding and being able to advocate the use of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/BICEP) and CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
* Experience of On-premise and hybrid infrastructure & services.
* Experience of migrating on-premise services to Azure.
* Leading a DevOps team.
* Financial Management.
* Modern service management practices (ITIL v4) (Foundation + Acquiring & Managing Cloud Services).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate, influence and motivate at all levels, both internally and externally.
* Experience of working in agile delivery team and using agile tooling (Jira & Confluence).
* Awareness of cloud technology advances and how these may benefit the CBS.
* Aware of broader industry developments and industry strategic direction – both competitor and external provider developments in relevant fields.
* Familiarity of working with complex integrated projects.
* Financial services experience is not essential but would be an advantage.
