Are you mechanically minded when it comes to design?
An expert in Solid Works?
A natural communicator?
If all of the above apply, read on...
We have a great opportunity for a Design Engineer to join an established business in Leicestershire. This company has solid, long-term relationships with some big names, and they need someone to continue delivering the service they're renowned for.
So what's the job?
We need someone with a background in mechanical design - whether that be as a product designer or an engineer, as you'll be involved in the end-to-end process of each project. This means:
1. Speaking to customers to understand their needs
2. Creating & designing a solution
3. Liaising with manufacturing to ensure timely completion
There is a lot more that goes on in between the stages: tight deadlines, calculations, cost, tweaking designs, and communication with various departments. However, the most important thing is delivery, on time & to perfection!
So who are you?
You will need to have a solid track record, be an expert in the use of Solid Works, and be a natural communicator. You'll be comfortable working with one-off bespoke pieces as well as on larger projects. Some may be straightforward small designs; others will be more complex, which is where your concept design kicks in.
Everything you design will be used in a manufacturing facility, so ideally, you have had design experience within the industry. You'll have knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as turning, milling, and fabrication. If you have an understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems, even better!
If you're looking for a company that works with large automated processes, this isn't the job for you. This company focuses on detail & service, using traditional processes due to their customers' needs - and it works really well. They're growing rapidly, their order books are full, and they need someone who wants to be part of the journey.
You should have a creative & logical approach to problem solving, demonstrate competency in structural calculations, and possess excellent time management skills. Most importantly, you'll be a team player!
