An opportunity has risen for a 12-month fixed term or secondment working with the Bereavement Service as a Team Leader Burial and Grounds.
This post will support the Bereavement Service Management Team with supervising a small operational team to deliver interments and grounds maintenance tasks across our four cemeteries, Efford, Longcause, Ridge Cross and Weston Mill alongside the 5 closed churchyards that the service is responsible for.
The candidate will need strong leadership skills and be able to demonstrate compliance with health and safety, to ensure that the team and the equipment they use is compliant and able to give daily reassurance to the management team that health safety and well-being procedures are being followed.
Duties will include:
1. Direct supervision and organisation, delegation of tasks and direction of the Burial and Grounds Technicians
2. Quality assurance of our cemeteries
3. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements for staff and machinery
4. Ensure that all our cemeteries are safe for our visitors
5. Provide relevant training ensuring safe, efficient and best practices are undertaken and adhered to
6. Undertake Risk Assessments and produce SWOPS and the delivery of Toolbox Talks
7. Organise and task the team to ensure that works are completed within set timescales, efficiently and to the required standard
8. Respond to and manage staffing / HR issues
9. Respond to customer comments and complaints, face to face, over the telephone or by email
10. Meet customers and help locate graves
11. Actively promote the memorial items within our cemeteries to improve revenue
12. Officiant at burials and interments
13. Work planning in the short/medium term
