Teacher of Science (Physics)
Required from September 2025
Permanent, full time
St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Science, the ideal candidate should have a specialism in Physics. This vacancy is a unique opportunity due to a colleague relocating; for a newly qualified teacher this would provide an excellent start to your teaching career, whilst for more experienced colleagues there are varied further development opportunities and rewards available, with the potential for pastoral opportunities also.
You’ll be joining an experienced group of qualified practitioners who very much work as a team. Science is enjoyed by students across all year groups and is a popular choice at A-level. The department is well resourced, supported by skilled technicians and all teachers have their own large laboratories. The drive for engagement and practical skills in Science has been a significant feature in recent years and can be seen in the keen way students participate – we are striving for scientists of the future being created and nurtured in the department.
In return our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You’ll also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, training linked to NPQML and NPQSL and further CPD supported by the diocese and local SCITT providers. Teachers flourish at St Thomas More, and we offer fantastic career advancement for teachers at all levels.
St Thomas More Catholic School is a very special place. Students are friendly, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for Science and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you!
