Senior Commercial Manager [QS]
Location: Reading (minimum 3 days)
Salary: Circa £500 p/d outside IR35 depending on experience
Opportunity:
Manage Contract delivery in a post-contract award environment working on a massive infrastructure construction framework. The NEC4 ECC Option C. Responsibilities include:
1. Keep project within approved spending limits.
2. Cost management and project management support.
3. Stakeholder management.
4. Take information - instruct work / not instruct work.
5. Build relationships.
6. Harmonise internal and external stakeholders.
7. CMAR.
The Senior Commercial Manager will manage the day-to-day commercial needs of our projects. Using skills, knowledge, and experience, you will provide expert advice and guidance, manage & monitor all processes, procedures, and negotiations in relation to contract and client performance, and ensure all legislative and contract requirements are adhered to.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
1. Preparation and management of project budgets.
2. Working with the Project Manager, oversee the commercial and contractual management aspects of projects.
3. Reviewing and advising on Contracts, managing risk, and maximizing operational performance of contracts, including the submission of Early Warnings and all notifications.
4. Procurement of Subcontracts and overseeing the commercial and contractual management of all subcontractors engaged.
5. Lead negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to achieve favorable outcomes and resolve any contractual disputes.
6. Stay updated with industry best practices, changes in legislation, and emerging trends in commercial management.
7. Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare timely reports for the senior management team and Board of Directors.
8. Preparation of Monthly applications and managing forecasts to ensure monthly and annual targets are achieved.
9. Working with the finance department to ensure effective management of cash flow.
10. Working with Project Managers to produce accurate monthly CVRs.
11. Consolidate individual CVRs into monthly management accounts, working with both the Finance department and Commercial Director.
12. Negotiate final accounts with both Clients and Subcontractors.
13. Represent both internal and external stakeholders at meetings and events with clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
14. Work with other departments and members of the Senior Management Team to enable the company to achieve its strategic and operational targets.
15. Undertake any other such duties considered commensurate with the experience of the post holder and the requirements of the role.
To be successful in this role you will need:
1. Minimum of 10-15 years previous experience working within a Senior Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management role.
2. Excellent knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts is essential.
3. Excellent knowledge of commercial and financial principles, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
4. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
5. Proven track record in leading financial management and cost control on projects.
6. Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
7. Understanding of risk analysis and management, with the ability to resolve problems at an early stage.
8. IT literate, and fully conversant with MS Word / Excel / Outlook.
9. Ability to travel when required throughout the UK to attend site visits, project meetings, etc.

1. BSc (hons) in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent qualification.
2. MCIPS desirable.
