JOB PURPOSE:
* You will be responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive Environmental Health, Corporate Health and Safety, Trading Standards, Licencing, Registration, Community Safety, Resilience and Flood Risk service.
* Ultimately responsible for the ensuring statutory obligations are met and delivering a range of services that are first and foremost legally compliant and fully cognisant of the need to be up to date with the principles around better regulation, regulatory reform and legal precedent.
* This post requires strong strategic planning, team leadership, process improvement, and maintaining a strong commitment to the needs of our organisation, community which includes businesses, licensee’s, residents and partnership working (particularly in the areas of Community Safety, Resilience and Flood Risk).
Your Role
* Develop and execute a strategic vision for the service areas under your control, aligning them with directorate and Council's goals.
* Lead and manage teams of professionals across your services area championing the 2024 change programme in order to achieve the required efficiencies now and in the future.
* Create a positive and responsive working relationship with all elected members and their representatives.
* Ensuring suitable reports for relevant committees are delivered in a timely manner and in accordance with the committee structure/timetable.
* Develop and manage programs and initiatives related to the services within the scope of your remit.
* Ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions relating to your service area.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met in line with corporate aims, objectives and values in an efficient and effective manner.
* Address complex constituent inquiries and issues as necessary.
* Continually evaluate and enhance the service areas under your control to ensure suitable processes are in place to improve efficiency and satisfaction.
