Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, with an expertise in mechanical actuation systems and hydraulics, to join our newly established Innovation and Advanced Development division of our dynamic, multidisciplinary R&D department. The Role As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer you will play a crucial role in the design and development of innovative new products, from concept to production. You will develop complex CAD geometry, concurrently performing or overseeing digital simulations. You will join a comprehensive team delivering medical devices suitable for economic manufacture. Key duties: Utilising Top-Down design principles and CAD functionality, along with digital analysis tools, to accelerate iterative design, with a focus on stress, fatigue, and predictive CFD modelling. Generating and evaluating detailed engineering CAD geometry, demonstrating accurate design intentions, simulating dynamic motion, limits/fits, and defining methods of manufacture. Providing expertise with hydraulics and mechanical actuation systems. Collaborating with Systems Engineering and clinical partners to capture user requirements and execute work packages within product verification and validation procedures. Producing fully representative engineering drawings (ISO 8888) with complementary GD&T and tolerance analysis techniques. Originating and maintaining risk management documentation (ISO 14971), actively participate in design and project review meetings, and comfortably present technical data with recommended actions. What are we looking for? Key Skills & Experience: Essential: Degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field. Extensive experience in mechanical design and engineering. Proficiency in SolidWorks and simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.). Strong understanding of materials science, including properties, selection criteria, and manufacturing processes.
