At our Building Technical Centre in Loughborough, our technical teams support the ongoing development and improvement of our gypsum-based plasterboard products for our British Gypsum business. We develop and improve product formulas to meet the needs of our customers, address quality concerns, drive product sustainability, and reduce the cost of manufacturing.
As a Scientist in the team, you will work predominantly on a project basis with some ad hoc tasks. The work is hinged on data analysis, interpretation, and communication across the business to a range of stakeholders including manufacturing and quality management teams, procurement, suppliers, marketing, and colleagues across our technical function. You will work on product development and testing projects which will include some travel across our manufacturing network to conduct manufacturing trials and problem solving.
This position is a great entry-level opportunity for a curious individual with great communication skills supported by a science-related degree such as chemistry, material science, or similar.

This is a full-time position based at our East Leake facility, predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility and travel required.
What we're looking for:
1. Science or possibly engineering-related degree in material science, chemistry, biomedical science, or similar.
2. Ideally at least one year in industry, which could be a placement year while in education.
3. Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills.
4. Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels.
5. Ability to influence and manage across a matrix organisation.
