Salary: 30,060 to £33,366 PA + Benefits Package

Economic Development Officer – The Role:
As Economic Development Officer (EDO), you will support the Economic Development Manager (EDM) in delivering a range of economic development, skills, and employment-based initiatives to drive business growth and investment in East Cambridgeshire.
You will play a key role in researching economic trends, engaging with businesses, and supporting funding applications that enhance the district’s economic landscape. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for business enquiries, helping to shape policies and projects that attract investment and promote business success.
Economic Development Officer – Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering economic development strategies aligned with the Council’s corporate plan
- Conduct research on the local economy, analysing economic, political, social, and commercial factors to inform decision-making
- Identify, develop, and signpost funding opportunities from regional, national, and European sources, collaborating with CPCA and other partners
- Act as the Council’s point of contact for business-related inquiries, liaising with internal teams, local businesses, and key economic development organisations
- Organise and deliver economic growth initiatives, monitor key performance metrics, and ensure compliance with funding agreements
- Work with the EDM and E-space Manager to promote business centres, manage the Business Development CRM, and support communications and social media outreach
Economic Development Officer – You:
- Degree or relevant experience in economic development (public or private sector)
- Strong communication, influencing, and facilitation skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of business support services, including programmes for startups and SME growth
- Experience in economic development or working with external organisations to achieve successful outcomes
- Ability to assess and disseminate information objectively and accurately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and office procedures
- Experience with funding bids and business centre operations
- Full driving license/ access to transport
