Newly created position with a global organization servicing a range of industries. You will have experience with internal control frameworks, an analytical mind, and be a professionally qualified Accountant.
You will be responsible for ensuring a strong internal control environment through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring their implementation, and monitoring compliance.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Own the design, implementation, documentation, assessment, and monitoring of the group’s internal control framework, including group policies and key risks, to ensure that the group has adequate controls to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
2. End-to-end ownership of the Enterprise Risk Management process for the group.
3. Formulating policies and procedures to improve internal controls, compliance, and efficiency.
4. Leading the process for internal controls reviews across the group.
5. Support corporate governance processes, for example, Corporate Criminal Offence, Senior Accounting Officer, and tax risk framework.
6. Delivering adequate and timely reporting on the internal control framework and control deficiencies to ensure appropriate communication, documentation, and escalation to business partners and senior leadership.
7. Delivering adequate and timely action plans and monitoring progress to address and resolve control deficiencies.
8. Working collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts resulting from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action.
9. Actively seeking standardization and automation, applying and implementing best practices for managing internal controls, and deploying innovative technology where possible to enhance and continuously improve the design and operating effectiveness of the controls, documentation, assessment, and review procedures.
10. Actively engaging with internal and external auditors to ensure consideration and resolution of all relevant risks and audit findings.
11. Developing and conducting adequate training and preparing related informational material on the internal control objectives, approach, and methodology to business partners regularly to build knowledge and understanding of risks and control.
Applicants to this role require
1. Professionally qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a similar position.
2. Solid understanding and experience with internal control frameworks.
