Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy's two principal air stations and is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK.
Serco has an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Engineering Supervisor (Wildcat) to be based at our site located in Yeovil. This role is responsible for aircraft maintenance and ground support on Wildcat aircraft and will require an understanding of the AESAS regulatory governance applicable in an operational airworthiness environment.
The ideal candidate will hold appropriate professional qualifications and/or relevant experience to support Aircraft Engineering services at RNAS Yeovilton in the AESAS Contract and supporting operational deliverables in a highly regulated environment. You will support your Military/Serco Line Manager in managing team members and developing Air Engineering Technicians, Serco Fitters/Fitters Mates, and Apprentices.
Main Accountabilities:
* Ensure employees are authorised to carry out contracted tasks as required by Customer Regulations and Procedures.
* Ensure all contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policy and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
* Complete contracted tasks in a timely manner.
* Inform the Serco Line Manager of all business risks.
* Report all verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues to the Serco Line Manager.
* Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) Act.
* Adhere to the Serco Management System and applicable Customer Policies and Regulations.
* Carry out administration tasks as required by the Military/Serco Line Manager.
* Attend further training courses necessary for the job as required.
* Utilise DASOR, Assure, and other reporting mediums to capture and communicate findings and actions from engineering, safety, and near-miss events.
* Monitor hazards and ensure risks and issues are identified and quantified.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives when required.
* Train/mentor Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices when qualified to do so.
* Promote Serco’s professional Company image in all liaisons with internal and external agencies.
What you’ll need to do the role:
* Service Certificate of Competency (CoC) or completion of a local Serco Supervisory Management and Aircraft Documentation Course and CoC Board.
* Previous supervisory experience with a good working knowledge of Wildcat Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems.
* Experience with Wildcat Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment.
* Knowledge of Project Planning and Lean Operating Procedures.
* Understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH Regulations, Tool Control, and Quality Practices.
* Experience with Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
* Completion of a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
* Thorough understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
* Experience in Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance in accordance with Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
* Excellent leadership and people management skills.
* Ability to work productively and effectively under tight timescales and pressure while maintaining operational outputs.
