You will contribute to governance within the department, such as audits, and training that the department provides to colleagues. The post is a permanent Band 7 post, for 2 days a week to be agreed with the service lead.
Main duties of the job
This role will mostly be in the community (seeing outpatients, including home visits across the whole Gateshead patch), neuropsychological assessment, multi-disciplinary work, supervision and training with the CMHTs.
About us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.

The service consists of an OPMH Community Mental Health Team, the Specialist Memory Hub and an Early Onset Dementia team, two older adult inpatient mental health wards (functional and organic) and the Older People's Mental Health Liaison Team. The psychology team works in to each aspect of the service (and also has dedicated input on the stroke ward at the acute hospital).
Job responsibilities
You will be part of a supportive and experienced team of clinicians, who work together with the Older People's Mental Health service in Gateshead. Your main responsibilities will be clinical, developing your therapeutic and neuropsychological skills in working with older adults, and offering consultation, supervision and training to colleagues.
Experience of working psychologically with older people with complexity and co-morbid difficulties will be an advantage, as will training in specific psychotherapeutic approaches.
