This unique role offers the chance to be part of a growing team within QE FacilitiesPharmacy Services based in the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and skilled Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician to join our team to support Dispensary and Wholesale unit activities. Applicantsmust beaGPhCregistered Pharmacy Technicianandhold a checking accreditation. The candidate must be able to effectively lead and supervise service support staff to deliver a high quality, patient focused service, and be able to work independently.
Main duties of the job
This role will require effective supervision of Wholesale and Stop Smoking Adviser teams to meet service delivery. Duties will include providing the final accuracy checking for customer orders and Paramedic medication supplies, leading on the rota for designated service areas, responsible for staff training, and ensuring stock is accounted for.
Applicants will receive on the job training covering Good Distribution Practice and MHRA regulations.

Job responsibilities
To work as required by the Pharmacy Manager in the day to day running of the Outpatient Pharmacy, Homecare, and Wholesale services. To hold accreditation for the checking of prescriptions dispensed by others. Support the Wholesale unit providing final accuracy checks for Paramedic medication and customer orders. Provide assurance to the Wholesale unit Responsible Person pharmaceutical distribution is safe and GDP compliant. Support the WDA to maintain an accurate record of medicinal product sales.
1. Maintains accredited Accuracy Checking Technician status and perform the final accuracy check of prescriptions dispensed by other pharmacy staff under the guidance of the Responsible Pharmacist.
2. Provides the final accuracy check of both dispensed medications and customer orders and Paramedic medication supplies.
3. Makes judgements on how to fulfil urgent orders where there are a range of options.
4. Provides advice and guidance in changes of medicines to healthcare professionals and customers. Make recommendations concerning the availability of medications.
5. Provides a high level of accuracy and maintain high professional standards through good dispensing practice.
6. Practices within relevant regulations and independently within the SOPS of Pharmacy Services.
7. Supports the Business Continuity Plan and associated actions.
8. Ability to make independent and informed decisions for issues relating to safe and efficient service delivery.
9. Accountability for Stock Control, resolution of Stock discrepancies, and acting as the delegated authorised signatory for purchase orders and invoices.
10. When required dispense and issues Outpatient and Homecare prescriptions.
11. Accountable for Pharmacy Stock counts and Expiry Checks through the Date Checking Matrix.
12. Lead effective supervision of support staff to ensure all staff perform their roles.
13. Demonstrate understanding and adherence to key standards and regulations of the GPhC.
Ability to maintain frequent periods of concentration for report-writing and calculations with predictable and unpredictable work patterns with production activities requiring frequent periods of standing.
