Closing Date 2024-11-29 Job Title: Head of Procurement Excellence & Sustainability Location: Durrington or Falmer (Hybrid, 2/3 days per week) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week Salary: £90-95k car allowance There has never been a better time to join our organisation as we build towards a greener future, tackling climate change, minimising our environmental impact and reducing our carbon footprint Job Overview The Head of Procurement Excellence & Sustainability is a new role designed to provide strategic procurement leadership to the Procurement function and wider business, with the individual acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), of category management, sourcing, purchasing, supplier and contract management and sustainability activities. As part of the Procurement Leadership team, this role will provide the strategic direction and leadership to ensure procurement has a clearly defined Procurement Strategy as well as a robust and suitable Procurement Policy. The role will work closely with other Procurement Heads to ensure the directional outcomes (Strategy, Policy, Governance and Legislation) and enabling capabilities (Process and Systems) are rolled out and enable colleagues to deliver effectively. Procurement Leadership Team activities including objective setting, investment planning, transformation programmes and capability development. Network across Southern Water to enhance the reputation of the function and build value adding relationships that ultimately benefit Southern Water, the environment and our Customers. Provide strategic direction and material insight into all functional areas by being across external best practices, innovation and ideas and translating these into actionable proposals for the business. With the rest of the leadership team, have oversight & coordination of the Supply Chain’s activities to ensure they align with our strategic themes and corporate priorities, including; driving health, safety & wellbeing, long term social value commitments, sustain the local economy and community, customer centricity, protect & improve the environment, water quality matters, and enable Southern Water to achieve our Sustainability goals and wider business performance ambitions. Improve supply chain resilience, secure efficiency and value add, and help enable the business to achieve the full benefits available from the wider supply chain Ensure capable Talent, effective Processes and intuitive Systems that ensure successful delivery of the Company’s procurement requirements. About You Proven Leadership skills and engendering followership. Passionate about making change happen, especially around sustainability goals within the sector and use of technology, innovation and insight to achieve functional and business wide efficiency. Proven experience of successful internal and external stakeholder engagement. Excellent communication skills – including verbal, written and presenting to a group at all levels of an organisation. Deep knowledge of the technology market, leading-procurement tools, techniques and processes covering all Procurement related areas e.g. Source to Pay (S2P), spend analytics, supply market insight, supply chain risk management, contract management. Performance & delivery orientated – able to work with others to achieve common goals. Commercial awareness and excellent analytical, planning, organisational and problem-solving skills. Deep knowledge and hands-on experience of all relevant regulatory requirements (not limited to UCR and NEC) is highly desirable. Bachelors degree in a business administration, commerce, finance, engineering or other relevant discipline (and/or qualified by demonstrable experience) as well as recognised qualification in procurement (e.g. CIPS or equivalent). Package This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington or Falmer office and home.
