Personal Assistant for Young Person
12hrs/wk at £12.10/hour - Bedale - DL8
Job Reference: CRS-H, P413734
We are looking to employ a Personal Assistant for our 11-year-old son, who lives in Bedale.
You will need to have experience with children who have autism, especially PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and OCD. You will help our son manage social interactions with peers and ensure his personal safety around other children.
You must be energetic, possess good communication skills, have a sense of humour, and demonstrate patience. A driving licence is preferable, as taking him on days out will be required.
Examples of activities include:
1. Escorting our son to various parks within walking distance, where he may take a bike or scooter and play games.
2. Escorting him on bus rides into Northallerton or other agreed destinations.
3. Taking him to places of interest and dining out when possible.
4. Taking him swimming.
5. During bad weather, participating in gaming at home; gaming knowledge, especially of Fortnite, Minecraft, and Teardown, would be beneficial.
6. Helping our son take our dogs for walks to foster positive bonding.
The hourly rate will be £12.10. There are no expectations for personal care.
Hours will be 12 hours per week during term time and 14 hours a week during school holiday periods. We are looking for availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm to 7pm, collecting him from school in Bedale. During school holidays, the hours will be earlier (i.e., 12pm to 5pm for 2 days and 12pm to 4pm for the third). There may be some flexibility regarding days, but Tuesday during term time is essential. Weekend work accompanying the family on days out may also be required.
All expenses will be reimbursed where necessary (i.e., entry for swimming, food, and drink for our son).
You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year (pro rata), but you will be required to take 2 weeks to coincide with our holiday periods (usually the last two weeks of August).
