Senior Purchaser
Location: Chadderton
Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 07:45-16:15, Fri 08:15-16:00 (Flexible Start Time Up To 9am)
The Role
Reporting to the Global Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager, the Senior Purchaser will ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of all materials to support the customer demand schedule. Careful coordination and navigation of materials from overseas and an ability to manage the Purchasing team is critical to the success of this role.
Main Responsibilities
1. Coach, develop and line manage the Purchasing team.
2. Analyze and understand sales trends and inventory requirements across all categories, considering volume, value and SKU requirements.
3. Control the overall planning and replenishment of stock to support the UK sales plan.
4. Deliver and implement supply plans for our products through clear direction and guidance of the Purchasing team.
5. Manage stock and associated supply chain activities effectively to ensure production requirements are met.
6. Track and report inventory forecast movements versus plan/target and explore ways to improve ongoing forecasting accuracy.
7. Input into the design of appropriate KPIs and refine to ensure effective ongoing updates across the business.
8. Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders to maximize opportunities and leverage commercial prospects.
9. Identify risks and ensure correct levels of mitigation and appropriate escalation to ensure supply as required.
The Candidate
1. Proven ability in forecasting, Sales Planning or Demand Planning.
2. Experience in managing inventory and overseas suppliers.
3. Experience in the use of Excel for reporting, formulas and data analysis.
4. Working knowledge of computerized Purchasing & Inventory Management systems; Navision system knowledge would be an advantage.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and able to pick up new software efficiently.
6. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on problem-solving and dealing with multiple customers.
7. Lateral thinker capable of delivering imaginative, pragmatic solutions with high commercial acumen.
8. Comfortable communicating to various audiences in an inspiring and credible way.
9. Good multitasking skills.
10. Able to operate autonomously and/or with minimum supervision.
11. A willingness to learn.
12. Strong focus on serving the customer, internally and externally.
13. Flexible, adaptable and supportive approach to work.
14. Polite with a calm and professional manner.
