An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the 524 Clinical Site Management Team for an experienced Staff Nurse. Applicants will need to have a good understanding of clinical site management i.e. patient flow, ED government targets and current issues that can affect the timely flow of patients through the hospital.
Excellent communication & leadership skills are required. The post holder will be expected to cover both day and night shifts, as well as working weekends and bank holidays to cover the rota. Please discuss a possible secondment opportunity with your current manager prior to applying.
The successful candidate will act as the hospital on-site senior nurse 524 bleep-holder. You will co-ordinate the patient flow in the hospital setting and appropriately place emergency admissions to the hospital. Other duties include managing staff deployment, security incidents, fire & cardiac arrest events and other clinical skills. You will also ensure various audits and other daily returns are completed in a timely manner.
Experience of venepuncture and cannulation is highly desirable, but not essential, as you will have the opportunity to develop these skills.
Main duties of the job
* To act as the hospital On-Site Manager as Senior Nurse 524 bleep-holder.
* To co-ordinate the patient flow in the hospital setting.
* Appropriately place emergency admissions to the hospital.
* Undertake ward rounds each day/night managing the patient flow through ED, external referrals and Theatre Admission Unit.
* To indirectly manage the staff on duty, in order to move staff as required across the trust.
* Management and co-ordination of the ward teams on a shift basis.
* To work within the NMC code of conduct.
* Specific night duty tasks:
* On night duty, work as co-ordinator of the Hospital and be the first point of contact for the resolution of clinical problems out of hours.
* To co-ordinate ward duties of the junior medical staff out of hours and effectively prioritise these tasks.
* Attend medical handover.
* Attend and assist with all medical emergencies within area of responsibility.

Qualifications and Training
* Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse (RN Child or RSCN)
* Relevant Post Basic registration education
* Teaching, Mentoring and Assessors qualification
* Willing to undertake Leadership & Management training
* Current registration with NMC
* Experience of holding bed management or Site management hospital bleep
* Nationally recognised Leadership & management qualification
* Willing to undertake study at Masters level
