Your role:
Are you passionate about accounting and eager to make a real impact? We're on the hunt for a talented individual, ideally with an AAT qualification or actively pursuing a CCAB/CIMA qualification. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping and coordinating detailed revenue and capital budgets. These are crucial to the development of both our service business plan and the overall annual budget for the Combined Authority. You won't just be crunching numbers; you'll be providing invaluable financial advice and support to managers and colleagues within GMCA and our partner organisations. About you:
* Possess the knack for translating complex financial topics into simple terms for a broad audience, including those with non-finance backgrounds? We require someone adept in both verbal and written communication, capable of making intricate financial concepts accessible and engaging to all.
* Proficient in a range of software applications, systems, and tools? Your advanced skills in databases and spreadsheets will be crucial in supporting our analysis and decision-making processes.
* Can you effectively organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining high standards? We value efficiency and a keen eye for detail.
* We're on the lookout for someone who remains focused and impartial, even amidst multiple competing deadlines.
* You should either hold an AAT qualification or be actively working towards a CCAB qualification, supported by considerable experience in an accounting role.
* A solid understanding of the statutory framework for accountancy is essential. Knowledge of accounting principles and techniques is crucial, including familiarity with the CIPFA Accounting Code of Practice for Local Government and the Accounts and Audit Regulations.
