Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that meet the company's operational needs. This role requires strong negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain processes. The Buyer will work closely with various departments to ensure that specifications are met and deadlines are adhered to.
Duties
1. Ensure continuity of supply.
2. Utilise the MRP system for efficient management of materials, purchase orders, and inventory control.
3. Ensure the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials, collaborating with suppliers to meet deadlines and reduce costs.
4. Lead and manage the procurement process for your product groups, including sourcing and selecting suppliers, placing orders, and tracking deliveries to support customer DIFOT.
5. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring that quality and delivery requirements are met while exploring opportunities for cost optimisation and improved lead times.
6. Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project teams to understand requirements and technical specifications, ensuring the streamlining of parts to enhance efficiency and overall alignment with products and processes.
7. Lead the evaluation of make-or-buy decisions for key project materials, considering factors such as cost, quality, and lead times, and make the final decision.
8. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to oversee CNC machine shop capabilities, ensuring that the equipment, tooling, and materials procured align with operational requirements and process improvements.
9. Attend weekly EPC review meetings and provide updates on procurement progress, material delivery schedules, and overall project performance.
10. Analyse supply chain trends, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate potential disruptions.
11. Identify and implement process improvements within procurement and supply chain functions, through Continuous Improvement methodologies to drive cost savings, efficiency gains, and supplier performance enhancements.
Experience
1. Manufacturing background is essential.
2. Ability to read technical drawings preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years technical supply chain experience.
4. CIPS qualified or QBE.
5. MRP proficiency.
