An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health, Safety and Fire Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist knowledge and advice to the Health Board Committees in matters related to violence and aggression.
Be the lead specialist in providing specialist guidance, training, advice and instruction on violence and aggression issues across the Health Board.
The post holder will identify, advise and facilitate the implementation of health and safety systems, designed to prevent and or mitigate the effects of violence and aggression on a Health Board wide basis in accordance with legislative requirements, NHS requirements, national guidance and good practice.
The post holder will develop and implement violence and aggression training programmes that meet the requirements of the Health Board and the All Wales Violence and Aggression Training Passport.
Main duties of the job
Ensure CTM meets employee training targets in accordance with the All Wales Passport. Support Directorates with training targets, provide detailed quarterly training reports for the Health Board Committees.
Develop specific Health Board policies and procedures based on nationwide guidance, legislation and good practice in order to reduce the risk of violent incidents, which includes specific guidance for managers and employees with security issues. This guidance includes providing advice on pursuing legal sanctions and prosecutions against perpetrators of violence within the Health Board. This may involve adopting additional measures against perpetrators of unacceptable behaviour by issuing internal and civil sanctions, such as patient undertakings, patient exclusions, anti-social behaviour referrals/orders.
Ensure that violent incidents are systematically reviewed to enable lessons to be identified and shared across the organisation.
Undertake workplace assessments following violent incidents. This involves giving specialist advice, assessing the environment and possible trigger factors which may have instigated the aggression.
Interviewing the patient assessing and evaluating care plans medication charts, giving advice on specific patient management issues.
Chair specific subgroups such as the All Wales Steering Groups/Security Sub-Groups, tasked with developing training modules, policy and risk assessments on issues related to violence and aggression and staff safety.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Master's Degree or possess the equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
* Experience up to City and Guilds 730/NVQ equivalent/Cert Ed. PTLLS level 3 or equivalent.
* Clinical knowledge acquired through experience and professional registration e.g. Nurse, Physiotherapy, or Occupational Therapy.
* Accredited Training qualification with a recognised Conflict Management Organisation. Recognised Teaching qualification e.g. FETC.
* Trainer qualification in practical Restrictive Physical Intervention techniques.
* Have a working knowledge of relevant literature, research in the field, and industry specific guidance issued.
* Have a working understanding of professional codes of ethics involved in Health/Social Care work.
* Security Management Service Accreditation or equivalent.
* Police Service, related experience. IOSH Managing Safely.
* Ability to work at a strategic level within the organisation.
* NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate.
Experience
* Experience in health and/or social care.
* Conflict Management Trainer.
* Relevant experience in Violence and Aggression.
* Experience of working with people and of dealing with members of the public.
* Experience in managing post incident actions, including debriefing and supporting staff.
* Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to violence and aggressive incidents and issues.
* Be able to translate knowledge of the subject matter into appropriate healthcare context with knowledge of practical application.
* Project management.
* Experience of preparing and delivering training/briefings.
Skills and Attributes
* Verbal and written communication skills. I.T skills and a knowledge of Microsoft Power-point/Word/Excel essential.

* Must be proficient at maintaining records and statistical information and converting information into required format for reports.
