An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Fleet Area Service Manager – Greater Manchester, with the successful applicant playing a key role in supporting Fleet Operations across our GM area workshops, focusing on daily operational workshop throughput efficiency, fleet availability, and contingency planning for the time-critical maintenance of the Trust’s fleet of ambulances and other operational vehicles. Leading a large team, the role also encompasses staff training, coaching, appraisals, and compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety.
Financial control for one of the Trust's largest Fleet Operations requires a firm understanding of budgets and P+L accounting.
The role offers wide and various challenges relative to the requirements of the Trust's daily Fleet availability. Supporting the Area Service Manager is a dedicated workforce, split across a 7-day shift pattern, ensuring our workshops continue to operate 365 days of the year.
The role of Fleet Area Service Manager reports to the Fleet Engineer Operations, and an elevated level of communication, business awareness, and report writing skill sets will see daily interactions with Fleet Operations, NWAS staff, dealer networks, vehicle manufacturers, third-party suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
There will be a requirement to travel across the Trust, visiting associated workshops and consulting with the Workshop Supervisors and technical teams.
This is a pivotal role within NWAS Fleet Operations, and the successful applicant will need to successfully lead a focused team to deliver the daily needs and required exacting needs in one of the UK's largest ambulance Trusts.
The role is Monday to Friday, covering a 37.5-hour working week. Annual leave is commensurate with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
