Continuous Improvement Engineer
Location: Melksham
Annual Salary: £40k - £55k
Working Hours: Full-Time, 36.5hrs per week, 1 hr paid break
8:30am - 5pm, Monday to Thursday
8:30am - 4pm, Friday

Scope of the Role:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a key role in unlocking operational excellence across the site. Using Lean tools such as Kaizen and A3, this role focuses on identifying opportunities, analysing performance data, and leading impactful initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. A hands-on role with real influence, driving meaningful change in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver tactical coaching on Lean methodologies and continuous improvement tools across the business.
2. Lead A3 thinking: conduct process reviews, root cause analysis, and implement structured improvement plans.
3. Facilitate Kaizen workshops to empower team development and drive operational excellence.
4. Identify, test, and implement process improvements to maximise productivity and efficiency.
5. Provide technical engineering support for the integration of new products and processes into manufacturing.
6. Own and maintain CI-related documentation, including control, revisions, and ongoing updates.
7. Support departments impacted by Kaizen activities with flow diagrams, change controls, FMEAs, and more.
8. Act as a champion for continuous improvement across the organisation, including supplier engagement.
9. Collaborate with employees at all levels to uncover improvement opportunities and drive sustainable change.
10. Train, mentor, and guide teams in Lean practices and process optimisation techniques.
11. Stay current with industry trends in Lean, process optimisation, and operational excellence.
12. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through structured A3 and Kaizen activities.
13. Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards and requirements.
14. Drive improvements in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes (e.g., office, information flow).
15. Champion best practices in Standardised Work, 5S, and In-Process Quality.
16. Willingness to travel approximately 10% as needed.

Background & Skills - Desirable
1. Has independently facilitated a minimum of five full-week Kaizen events.
Education & Training
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
2. 2+ years of hands-on experience applying continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
3. Additional certifications or training in quality, Lean, or continuous improvement highly advantageous.
Experience & Technical Skills
1. Practical experience driving improvements within manufacturing environments, ideally in highly regulated industries.
2. Strong understanding and real-world application of Lean principles, including Flow, Kanban, 5S, and Standardised Work.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio).
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver reports, facilitate Kaizen events, explain data insights, and lead engaging presentations.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and drive actions to completion.
