Senior/Principal Civil Engineer (Defence) - Contract (Ongoing)
£55-70 per hour (DOE) - Inside IR35
Helensburgh - Hybrid
Our client is an international engineering consultancy with excellent opportunities in the Defence industry for a Senior Civil Engineer on a contract basis.
The Senior Civil Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, supporting operations and future programs at client sites.
The role involves working alongside other engineers of all disciplines to author, develop, assess, and maintain engineering design substantiation for a defence organization's nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Author & manage design substantiation documents
2. Oversee civil design changes & concessions
3. Present safety cases to committees
4. Develop EIMT schedules & safety reviews
5. Provide technical advice & conduct independent reviews
6. Apply engineering knowledge in high-risk environments
7. Justify civil/structural design modifications
Essential Requirements:
1. 5+ years of experience in design assessment for RC and steel structures, including dynamic loads, such as earthquakes, blasts, and wind.
2. Experience with RC and steelwork marine structures and jetties.
3. Proven ability to produce technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high-hazard industries.
4. Skilled in applying theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and manage engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments.
5. Strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge, utilizing both existing and emerging technologies.
Desirable:
1. Experience in defence or a similar nuclear environment.
2. Familiarity with safety case development techniques, such as HAZID/HAZOP.
